As of early June, your Ignite Pilates trainer Teran Vedsted has earned her Level Three Comprehensive Certification from Peak Pilates®—the most advanced quality authentic Pilates education covering the mat, reformer, tower, chairs, barrels and auxiliary equipment.
Peak Pilates® was founded in 1996, firmly rooted in the professional Pilates community. The Peak Pilates® Comprehensive Certification is a classical Pilates education program distinguished by an emphasis on Pilates as an integrated movement system as Joseph Pilates intended. The 500-hour Peak Pilates Comprehensive Certification includes instruction in classical mat work and exercises performed on traditional Pilates apparatus. Trainers earn a certification at each level by attending all modules, successfully completing exams and submitting logged hours.
Teran brought Ignite to Gillette in 2015 after leaving a job at a coal mine in Gillette, Wyoming. For Teran, Pilates is about learning how to use your body efficiently and correctly.
“Movement heals, and proper movement helps to strengthen the body,” says Tearn. “Pilates is all about a healthy spine! Keep your spine healthy and you will never have to wear Velcro shoes!” And, yes, feel free to ask Teran about this when you come to the studio.
For those who don’t know, Pilates is a low-impact exercise that emphasizes proper postural alignment, core strength and muscle balance. It’s a “method of exercise” that uses spring driven machines as well as a series of floor exercises that helps improve flexibility, strength and endurance and concentration—helping clients strengthen their abdomen, back, and pelvis as well as their glutes (butt) and legs. Pilates is designed to stretch, strengthen and balance the body from the core out. A stable core provides you with a solid foundation for any movement. After a few weeks of attending Pilates classes, clients gain flexibility, see their posture improve, as well as notice that they are getting stronger, have more defined muscles, and have a stronger sense of well-being.
